Mr. Gebhart was TAC’s Project Architect for the concept design of the three-story 104,000 SF teaching/research lab/classroom facility and administrative offices.
Working with the Miami firm of Bellon Perez and Perez, the facility is located on the Florida International University Park Campus in Miami. The building is bisected by an open-air "Main Street" which joins the administrative offices with the labs.
The latter have been planned as three modules to which a fourth can be added when the need arises.
The ground floor houses the general classrooms, seminar rooms, and the lecture hall. The second and third floors house the physics and chemistry departments respectively.
A spacious interior rotunda containing departmental administrative offices is the focus of student and faculty interaction. The building the first new building with-in the new TAC masterplan.
