Lubrano Residence
Bridgton, Maine
The existing dwelling’s first floor consisted of a combined living/dining room, kitchen, small master bedroom/bath, and a tiny, entry hidden behind an exterior woodshed (shown above right). A stair in the entry zone connects to a second floor loft, and a full basement on the lower lake-side, which has three small bedrooms, two baths, and family room
area opening to the lake level.
The re-design created a new, legible , two-level spacious sky-lit atrium entry with an interconnecting stair to the loft and lower renovated floor; conversion of an existing space to a study; a large master bedroom/dressing/bathing suite; and an enclosed interchangeable screen/glazed porch, while extending the existing exterior deck facing Moose Pond.
The landscape design created an arrival structure connected to a stepped, covered walkway structure, to bring people from the parking area twenty feet above, to the new entry.
The entire house was re-roofed and painted to give a visual unity to the project, while updating the roof venting system.
